About Robert

Robert is a Certified Jivamutki Yoga Teacher from New York now living on Chicago’s Gold Coast. He draws his teachings from the profound wisdom of his teachers, David Life and Sharon Gannon. Robert received his Jivamukti training at an intensive residental program at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York, where he continues his ongoing education and spiritual practice. In his classes, through a variety of vinyasa formats, he shares the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga—ahimsa, bhakti, meditation, nada yoga, and study of scripture—with students and practitioners throughout Chicago.

Robert also draws inspiration and gives thanks to his first teacher, D’ana Baptiste, co-creator of Baptiste Power Yoga at Centered City Yoga in Salt Lake City, Utah. He completed his first 500-hour training there with D’ana, whose celebration of creative freedom continues to resonate deeply with him. With an open heart and a sense of humor, Robert honors D’ana wherever and whenever he teaches.
He is also grateful to his Ashtanga teacher, Ajay Kumar of Sthalam8 Yoga Shala in Mysore, India; Shri B. N. S. Iyengar, with whom he completed his pranayama curriculum course and to Kamal Singh, of Tattvaa Yoga Shala in Rishikesh, India. Using their shared knowledge, Robert now teaches the traditional Ashtanga Primary Series.

Robert has also advanced his studies in ayurveda, chanting, and scripture in Rishikesh. Today, with heartfelt gratitude, he has completed 1,200 hours of training while traveling on five continents in more than fifty-five countries. With twenty years of teaching experience and thirty years of public service at hand, he enthusiastically continues his daily practice and shares his gifts to all who come.

“Teaching from the heart is the greatest reward to share with my students today.”
